The Missing Link
     The Solar Renewable Energy solution is often poo poo 'd because if the Sun doesn't shine or the Wind doesn't blow, batteries can only hold so much, batteries are expensive, they last between 5 and 10 years, take hours to charge and to replace cars would require vast amounts of battery metals that are too expensive or even impossible to accumulate in the necessary quantities. And for large arrays on the grid, the shortage of power from any lack of capacity would cause older fossil fuel plants to come online, and some like the coal plants can take 2 or 4 days to come online. 
     In order to make large arrays, cars and distributed home power feasible another energy storage system is necessary.  After many false starts and technical obstacles, HYDROGEN is that missing link to RE powered civilization making fossil fuels, including Nuclear OBSOLETE. Hydrogen can be made with solar and all renewables , especially deep geothermal. It can also be made with at waste treatment plants from the methane, and some (I think at Stanford) are researching algae which produce hydrogen. Fuel Cells which produce electricity from hydrogen are available in the full spectrum of power output from small laptop computer sizes to 50MW which is industrial power plant size. Hydrogen can be pressurized and trucked, piped and stored easily. 
     So we need to ramp up the whole RE foundation as quickly as possible, as we now have all the pieces in place to have a fully functional electrical off and on grid system no longer reliant on pollution causing fossil fuel !!! yeah ! Youtube also has many videos on a person who has created a whole house fuel cell system with solar PV  and Storage. Experiencing the Earth with high technological capabilities that are not destroying our Earths' Environment and Social equity through electrical power generation not controlled by monetary systems is freedom and security that humanity has never had before. It is not "controlled" by monetary systems meaning that with open distribution power companies, oil , gas , nuclear and grid owners no longer have a monopoly on electrical power. Third world nations can leapfrog old fossil fuels straight to RE. 'Been a dream for a long time , but now it is the reality which we are moving into. All the car companies have hydrogen fuel cell cars tested and Honda is planning major production for 2015. www.thefuelcellstore.com has smaller fuel cells on sale now. Of course this could take ..awhile....... but it is happening .........  .... .. .

EC Green Building

Electronic Civilization    Green Building projects on a city size scale are beginning with the help of the GGGI (global green growth Institute) at www.gggi.org. One project in Abu Dhabi called Masdar City is a highly developed concept. Check it out at www.masdarcity.ae.  
     Absolutely awesome development ! One wonders if this and other green building developments will add on the other necessary components of the EC such as: Resource Based Economy (see www.zmca.org: Orientation Guide, www.thevenusproject.com) which may need the transition step of Electronic Exchange ( www.irta.com). and  Direct Democracy (policy determined by direct vote, online computer modeling, no representatives). I can easily imagine that Human Rights and Social Freedom might be lacking in a country with a religious legal system, and a monetary classist atmosphere. I can imagine that the shift to EC will come from many directions, including the environmental (technology: green building, RE, high speed trains, etc.) and the social ( direct democracy, lifestyle GLBT, Poly tolerance,  gender equality, etc. (www.uupoly.org). If you have Netflix or if you can order the dvd's (much better quality and non-edited) The Michael Woods 4 shows on Myths are fantastic ! Actually finds Shangri-La ! Too bad the Domination/Violence empire got 'em , but again not surprising, its very hard to move beyond the paradigm of the time , like mammals when the dinosaurs still exist. If the hiding place is discovered its all over. Who knows how many smaller Shangri-Las' may have existed for a time and some had a wonderful life after all ? Heaven is ten zillion miles away , because we have so far to go. Stevie Wonder. 
     See also: Michael Wood Legacy , really mind expanding, too bad Netflix edited his conclusions , you really need to get the DVD's to get the real story summation, but you get the info of all the Civilizations and can piece together a story of destruction and gradual evolution towards the polarity we are in now of technological comfort ( if we used the latest it would be "Green" too), and of ideological socio-economic nightmares which are leading to the collapse. I used to have to explain or seem like a "ranter" when I used that term (collapse) but now it is quite clear, we are in deep trouble on all fronts and this worldview is not sustainable for many more decades....... Get real , it is happening. Its is up to us. Whatever happens to me, the human race is here in this mess until they get it right. I don't have to be the proof that this "Electronic Civilization" is a correct representation of the primary values/mechanisms of the future. Time will tell. Some things are so easy to see from the Mountain and impossible to see from the valley of human cities.

      Wonderful day in the High Sierra, granite boulders , crystal clear skies and total serenity in complete peace nearly infinite giant trees, mountains of rock and space
of thousands of kilometers to the horizon in all directions. ....... Time moves so slow when your thoughts fall away after a few hours and the wind and flowers take up your vision. Bright and warm, scents of incredible spruce, cedar and wild fields of flowers and green fragrant flora..... Then one comes home and ... contrary to popular belief, burying ones head in the sand just allows one to get run over and you'll never see it coming, oh sure technically you might know that of course it could happen but...... one might sufficate first anyway so what ? Might be a little humorous, really though this is juvenile. The public discourse has become so dumbed down its really predictable yet totally foolish. So having just watched the news from Deutche Welle Germany, NHK japan, Democracy Now, and the Daily Show and Cobert Report, its really enough to make your blood boil. A little news today: Ireland, Greece, Italy, Spain and a few others are on the brink of economic instability again/still and Germany and France are in turmoil trying to keep the Euro currency going, seems it needs more "money out of thin air" in other words created debt from "Them" the controllers/decision makers who really control the world or at least try to keep the illusion of normalcy going , its really a fallacy , yet its all we've got. The japanese yen is too strong , the dollar too weak , the Euro instable and the chinese currency is in limbo land. By the Way the Chinese are up to encroaching on the Yellow Sea areas of many countries who are arming up as well. The Chinese Navy has begun deploying Air Craft Carriers and is bidding to be the next super power, they are really pissed at the U.S. for screwing up its economy and not playing ball with them like they like. So the march of Political Puppets continues for the wealthy class to enslave us all , they are doing very well thank you. As Thom Hartman said today " the New Deal has become the Raw Deal" as the new deal was to bring about social justice and create a strong middle class ,the Raw deal is if you have a job forget about pay just get by with what we give you or we'll fire your ass ! 
     Nothing surprising here as we march to Armageddon. So ridiculous , doesn't have to be this way at all. Domination and Violence as the mechanism of social order. From all the movie commercials for "heroes" who will fight with super powers and fantasies of Jobs, Jobs, Job machine to create jobs and no real understanding of the Situation we ARE in which is Civilization Change from this collapsing Industrial civilization: like a monopoly game based on competition for money and obedience to corporate authority, leading to the final dissolution as the bottom cannot afford to buy anymore and the wealthy fall of the financial cliff when money becomes worthless with inflation. The wealth believe the gun will save them as the use totalitarian tactics to keep it bottled up. We see that doesn't work in the long run as well.
     Sometime we have to face it that the whole show is bankrupt , literally. And a new system must be created. Why not start now ? The mechanism of Sharing/Love is the way. Sooner or later if we don't go extinct , we'll be coming to it. Such a pain to get there. So I'm calming down, having some great dessert of Yogurt/chocolate/walnuts and a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon........ have a nice time too ! ... by the way Burning Man video posted on my facebook page... check it out , its still going stronger than ever except the...   . . . ...... trips.... but it sold out ! and had some incredible goings on. I'm in California mining for a heart of gold again. Left Arizona as there is no inexpensive land with water there. Here in the Sierra Nevada Gold Country, there is, and maybe even some gold besides, went gold panning and swimming , looking at the landscapes and peoplescapes to find the right place to begin a community. Rani and Stasia are coming over soon to look at land and I'm researching the new Fuel Cell developments (Honda Clarity, Air Products sewage to hydrogen and solar/hydrogen). I'm taking a traumatic brain injured person out on local trips, and beginning a new career in Energy Auditing. I'll be taking a course in Sept. for the Sierra Business Council (sbcouncil.org) who are a council of businesses in the  Green Living/Technology fields. I hope to find a position with one of them and begin to implement Electronic Civilization systems. I think the Tahoe area is ripe for fuel cells powered by hydrogen from municipal waste, snow protected photovoltaics and wind turbines. The Ski Areas' and Resorts use a lot of electricity which could be generated in these ways. The Building efficiencies can be another huge area of advancement with the need for massive remodeling for solar light, heat and elec. panels, and insulation. Local hydrogen bus and fuel cell car pool for transportation and greenhouse organic fuel production co-generation from heat are great prospects because Tahoe is so vibrant and isolated.
